A diet denotes the food and drinks an individual regularly consumes. It can also mean the general foods people eat most of the times such as balanced or typical foods. Or it can denote a certain plan to eat, often and eaten by people looking to lose weight, develop muscles or anyone trying to manage health issues.

Diets may differ for different purposes and these include the following:

  1. Balanced Diet: A diet that includes necessary foods in appropriate amounts so as to provide the essential nutrients and maintain overall health.
  2. Weight Loss Diets: These include; calorie restriction, low-carb, keto, or intermittent fasting which are forms of plans that reduces and/or targets calorie consumption towards fat loss.
  3. Medical Diets: Such are intended for different health conditions, e.g. low-sodium for blood pressure and gluten-free for celiac disease.
  4. Vegetarian/Vegan Diets: A diet that predominantly helps cut back on meat and animal products.
  5. Cultural/Traditional Diets: Such are influenced by regions and cultures, examples include Mediterranean or South Asian diets.

A balanced diet is one that is not too high nor very low on all the sections of the diet so that the body can get all the nutrients needed without any difficulties or anywhere of fitting individual goals.
